For a lot of people the holiday season is all about giving back to the community just like Vancouver singer Tyrell Witherspoon.  With the release of his new single "Glow", Witherspoon is donating a portion of each sale in December to the Dr Peter AIDS Foundation.

The world’s first LGBTQ music video awards competition is in full swing and while professional industry judges are viewing the videos for a variety of awards, fans will also have their say in the Fan Fave Award.

Local gay writer and performer Tyrell Witherspoon is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

From slick, professionally produced videos to home-movie style jams shot in apartments to live footage from concerts and clubs, queer artists from across the globe are throwing their musical hats in the ring for the 2011 RightOutTV Music Video Awards.

The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s 2011/2012 season begins Saturday with one of Vancouver’s most famous musical exports, Jon Kimura Parker, as he returns to play one of the most popular (and difficult) piano concertos ever written, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3.

What better way to celebrate summer than a special Vancouver Symphony Orchestra pops concert featuring music from Hollywood and Broadway.

A lot has happened since we last talked with singer/songwriter/pianist Jeffery Straker, not the least of which is the release of his new album "Under the Soles of My Shoes" which drops June 21 and a return to Vancouver for Pride this July.

Growing up, Tyrell Witherspoon was an obvious over-achiever when it came to the arts.  From classical violin to ballet to musical theatre and dance, Tyrell's talent soon became too large for his small Manitoba hometown and he cast his eyes to Winnipeg and the opportunities it offered.  He hasn’t looked back since, eventually landing here in Vancouver where he can be seen, among other things, in the locally shot television series Hellcats and in his newly released video for his first single “Letting Go”.

Including such contemporary favorites as Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra's Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik's presents the second in his series of tributes to Broadway on April 8 & 9 at the Orpheum.

Canadian singer, songwriter and social activist Faith Nolan, in Vancouver for the Downtown Eastside's Annual Women’s Memorial March for Missing and Murdered Women, is set to perform at Rhizome Café on Saturday, February 12th.
